The story spread all over the world until a Russian newspaper discovered it was a hoax. The imaginary story was inspired by shark attacks on tourists in Egypt and is the all-time most read story on Njuznet with more than 300,000 hits. The breakthrough for Njuznet came in December 2010 with a now famous story of a Serb called Dragan Stevic who supposedly killed a shark jumping off a cliff in Sharm El Sheikh. Croatia’s news-bar.hr, in Macedonia and in Bosnia came later on. Njuznet was the first website of its kind in the Balkans when it launched in October 2010.
